We, the hard-working people of Northeast Ohio, have been struggling with rising costs. We were promised lower costs during the 2024 presidential race, but those promises have been broken. Instead, the administration and Republican Congress have made policy decision after policy decision that increases our costs, puts jobs at risk, and artificially raises interest rates.

We live in a district with diverse demographics, ranging from suburban to rural, but we are all suffering from the Trump tariffs. Tariffs are taxes—taxes that are supposed to be decided by Congress, not imposed by executive order. The trade wars are hurting our farmers and shrinking their markets. Our American workforce and unions must be protected. That includes safeguarding and expanding the American Workers’ Dignity and Protection Act.

The tariffs are driving up the cost of goods and services while giving our global competitors an unfair advantage. Healthcare costs are skyrocketing (see Healthcare policy statement), and crushing debt is making it nearly impossible for first-time homebuyers to achieve their dreams.

Max Miller voted for these policies. He was the deciding vote on the budget that increased costs for working families while protecting tax cuts for the wealthy. He had the power to fight for Ohio—instead, he chose party loyalty.

When I represent you in Congress, I will fight for legislation that:

• Restores Congressional oversight for all tariffs so trade policies are made by representatives who answer to you, not by executive decree.

• Safeguard and expand The American Workers’ Dignity and Protection Act with rights for workplace protection, equal pay, rights to organize and earning real living wages.

• Reduces the cost of health insurance and healthcare while improving the quality of care.

• Lowers the cost of goods by ending the tariff trade war that’s driving up prices.

• Maintains the independence of the Federal Reserve and other non-partisan agencies so economic decisions are based on data, not politics.

• Lowers energy costs by promoting alternative energies to meet our growing demand and reduce dependence on volatile global markets.

• Helps small businesses prosper by cutting red tape and ensuring fair competition.

• Eases the debt burden on individuals and future generations through responsible fiscal policy.

Proper Congressional oversight and action will make your life easier, not harder. It will allow our real economy to grow alongside the stock market. By reducing debt burdens and lowering interest rates, we can make the American Dream a reality for the hard-working people of our district.
