I’ve seen how the system can fail those who need it most: bureaucratic delays, denied claims, inadequate support. In Congress, I will fight to ensure every veteran receives the healthcare, benefits, and dignity they’ve earned.

Healthcare for Every Veteran Expand VA eligibility to all honorably discharged veterans, eliminating income thresholds and service-connection requirements that leave millions without coverage. Fully fund the PACT Act and ensure toxic exposure victims — burn pit survivors, Agent Orange victims, and radiation-exposed veterans — receive timely, full healthcare without bureaucratic delays. Strengthen women veterans’ care by expanding OB/GYN services, maternal health, and MST (military sexual trauma) treatment at every VA facility. Hire 10,000 additional VA healthcare workers to reduce wait times and ensure no veteran waits more than 30 days for a primary care appointment. Eliminate “ghost offices” that can’t provide the services promised and reject privatization schemes that undermine VA healthcare. Zero out-of-pocket prescription costs for service-connected conditions — no veteran should choose between medication and groceries.

Social Security & Economic Security Repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) — provisions that have unfairly reduced Social Security benefits for thousands of veterans in public service careers. Protect and expand military retirement benefits by opposing all cuts to VA disability compensation, military pensions, and Survivor Benefit Plans. Expand the Earned Income Tax Credit for low-income veterans and provide tax relief for caregivers of disabled veterans. Combat veteran homelessness with a fully funded housing voucher program (HUD-VASH), targeting the goal of functional zero veteran homelessness within four years. Strengthen GI Bill benefits by closing housing allowance gaps, expanding transferability, and protecting veterans from predatory for-profit colleges.

Access to Services & Benefits Modernize the VA claims process — mandate electronic claims processing, AI-assisted review, and a 90-day maximum decision timeline for all disability claims. Open VA community-based outreach offices in rural counties, ensuring no veteran drives more than 60 minutes for face-to-face benefits assistance. Strengthen employment protections by fully enforcing USERRA (veterans’ employment rights law), expanding the Veterans Employment Opportunities Act, and creating a federal veterans hiring tax credit for small businesses. Create a one-stop digital veterans portal — a single, secure online gateway where veterans can file claims, book appointments, check benefits status, and access legal aid. Protect veterans from predatory lending by strengthening VA loan protections, banning illegal steering practices, and funding free legal aid for veterans facing foreclosure.

Mental Health & Crisis Support Double federal investment in veteran mental health — fund the hiring of VA psychiatrists, psychologists, and licensed counselors in every congressional district. Expand the Veterans Crisis Line (988 Press 1) with 24/7 staffing guarantees, zero hold times, and mobile crisis response units embedded in communities. Fund research into PTSD, TBI, and moral injury, including innovative treatments like EMDR (eye movement therapy), ketamine-assisted therapy, and peer-support programs proven to reduce suicide risk. Eliminate the stigma barrier by requiring mental health screenings at all VA appointments and decoupling mental health records from security clearance reviews. Support veteran families by funding caregiver mental health services and family counseling — because healing a veteran means supporting those who love them.

These aren’t just policy positions—they’re promises I’ve fought for in courtrooms and will fight for in Congress. Our veterans kept their promise to us. We must keep our promise to them.
